What did Gwenyth Paltrow reveal on Good Morning America that helps to relieve her lingering Covid Symptoms?

Like so many who have had the Covid-19 virus, Gwyneth Paltrow has been feeling the lingering symptoms of this illness.

Here’s how she described it, as she shared on the Goop website:

“I had COVID-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog,” Paltrow continued “In January, I had some tests done that showed really high levels of inflammation in my body. So I turned to one of the smartest experts I know, the functional practitioner Dr. Will Cole. After he saw all my labs, he explained that this was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual.”

Dr. Simone Wildes, infectious disease specialist, explained what people who have these syptoms experience on Good Morning America.

“After you have gone through the initial infection, you end up with complications. You’re having trouble with your heart, you’re having trouble breathing, you’re having issues with memory and concentration, some people lose taste and smell.”

Paltrow has chosen holistic healing to help in her recovery, not surprising if
you are a Goop site follower or if you have seen her documentary series, The Goop Lab, which can be seen on Netflix.

She maintains a healthy diet, free from alcohol and sugar and takes specific supplements as advised by her medicine practitioner, Dr. Will Cole, to increase her gut health.

She also said she’s been intermittent fasting and follows a mostly keto and plant-based diet. In her typical honest way, Paltrow said “Everything I’m doing feels good, like a gift to my body,” said Paltrow. “I have energy, I’m working out in the mornings, and I’m doing an infrared sauna as often as I can, all in service of healing.”

Both Dr. Wildes and Paltrow spoke about “brain fog” as a long lasting symptom of those who have had Covid-19.  Said Dr. Wildes, “The most common one that patients tell me all the time [is] they have brain fog, they’re just not thinking clearly, and they report that the fatigue they have is just out of this world,” She went on “Like nothing they have felt before they feel like they cannot do their daily activities.”

How exactly does infrared sauna help with “brain fog?”

Infrared sauna use increases something called BDNF, or brain-derived neurotrophic factors. BDNF encourages neurogenesis, or the growth of new brain cells, which is crucial for improving brain function and memory.

In addition, the deep detox provided by an infrared sauna session relieves stress and anxiety and allows the brain to rest, another key element in the elimination of the notorious, debilitating “brain fog.”
